The aged care sector is experiencing severe staff shortages, with high levels of absenteeism, staff turnover and exiting, and challenges attracting new workers. Our aged care workforce is stressed and fatigued, with increased workloads and long hours: they feel undervalued and unsupported.

Facilitated by Dr Xanthe Golenko (Bolton Clarke & AAG QLD Vice-Chair) and Professor Evonne Miller (QUT Design Lab & AAG QLD Chair), this session is a “call-to-action” – The pannelists from government, industry and academia, will discuss practical and impactful solutions at multiple levels designed to (1) support and value our care workforce in their daily work; (2) attract and retain new staff; and (3) identify the specific policy actions needed to reimagine and transform the care workforce experience.
