Although co-design processes themselves are simple (ask, listen, respond) creating the environment that fosters co-design processes involves careful thought, planning and specific skills. These include (but are not limited to) determining the co-design needs, who needs to be involved, their roles and responsibilities and how to manage sometimes difficult conversations where they may be perceived ‘winners and losers’ (for example, prioritising actions to address an important issue).
