The health of older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
As part of NAIDOC week it is timely to share this Invited Article by AAG Member Dr Dina LoGiudice
The article presents an overview of the health of Older Aboriginal Australians. It describes how dementia, chronic pain, falls, incontinence and other conditions are common in older Aboriginal Australians; and highlights how cultural, social, and environmental factors play a role in the prevalence, assessment and management of these conditions. Implications for future research and practice are presented.
