Many older patients are receiving emergency medical transfers for illnesses that could have been prevented with access to consistent primary care, a report by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has found.
Between July 1, 2014 and 30 June, 2017, the RFDS transferred more than 23,000 patients over the age of 65 from remote Australia to hospital.
