Expression of interest - AAG and AAG Research Trust Honorary Treasurer

The Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) Board and the Trustees of the AAG Research Trust are seeking a new Honorary Treasurer following David Heath giving notice that he will be stepping down from the role early next year. David has made an enormous contribution as treasurer over the past four years.

AAG is now seeking a non-elected Board appointed director, with a solid financial/governance background and expertise and experience in finance, audit and risk management, to join the AAG Board of Directors and the Trustees of the AAG Research Trust. The Treasurer also Chairs the Financial, Audit and Risk Management Committee for both entities.

The role of the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) Board of Directors and the Trustees of the AAG Research Trust is to provide effective governance of the organisations and make decisions in the best interests of both entities. Directors of the AAG Board are also Trustees of the AAG Research Trust; both are voluntary positions.

AAG is a not-for profit, membership led organisation structured as a company limited by guarantee. AAG is the sole trustee for the AAG Research Trust, which is a separate entity structured as a Public Ancillary Fund.

The AAG Board of Directors consists of 8 elected members, who are nominated and elected by each Division (States and Territories), and up to two non-elected members appointed by the Board. Non-elected Directors can be appointed at any time for up to three years, and can be re-appointed by the Board on an unlimited basis. Directors need to be members of AAG.

Expressions of Interest close on 20 October 2020.
