Action Plan for Older First Australians Launched
On Thursday, 21st of February, The Hon Ken Wyatt, AM, MP, Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care, launched the Aged Care Action Plans to support older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at Parliament House. Guides developed on actions to support older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are both for older First Nation people and for aged care providers.
The Aged Care Sector Committee Diversity Sub-group, which AAG is a member, supported the development of the action plan to guide the aged care sector to deliver respectful, inclusive and culturally safe care for Older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
AAG members at the launch included Graham Aitken (Co-chair of ATSIAAG and member of the Action Plan’s Reference Group), Professor Tony Broe (Life Member), Noeleen Tunny, Kate Smith and James Beckford Saunders (CEO).
