2016-08: Residential Transition for Ageing Queenslanders

The Queensland Government established the Advisory Taskforce on Residential Transition for Ageing Quenslanders to identify the barriers and enablers for increasing housing options for older people. The Taskforce prepared an Issues Paper and sought community feedback. AAG made a submission that made commented on:

  • suitable housing options
  • home resilience
  • suitable community services
  • individual resilience
  • other issues for considerations
  • possible solutions.

On 12 July 2017, the Queensland Seniors Minister, Coralee O’Rourke, announced initiatives that will be put in place in response to the recommendations of the Advisory Taskforce on Residential Transition for Ageing Queenslanders report.

The Final Report and Queensland Government response is now available on the Department’s website. The Government fully supported 18 recommendations and supported the remaining three in principle. Some recommendations have been incorporated in the new Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027.
