Associate Professor Brian Le
Director of Palliative Care at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre
including the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Brian is a specialist in both Palliative Medicine and Medical Oncology, and is an Associate Professor of the University of Melbourne. Brian is the immediate past-Chair of the Training Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, responsible for training of all palliative medicine specialists in Australia and New Zealand. Brian is involved with many other Commonwealth and State governmental and not-for-profit organisations concerning Palliative Care, and is a past chairman of Palliative Care Victoria. Brian is involved with research in the areas of palliative and supportive care, including clinical trials of novel therapies, and research into palliative care integration and benefits for patients and carer.
Dr Alexandra Clinch
Deputy director of Palliative Care at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
Alex has wide expertise in clinical palliative care practice, working across consultation teams, inpatient care and community care, following her background of training in general practice and radiation oncology. She is passionate in clinical teaching through her positions at the University of Melbourne in medical training and curriculum development for the Melbourne Medical School and her advisory role to the Commonwealth on Palliative Care education and training; she is a past state training coordinator for the Victorian Palliative Medicine Training Program. Her research interests relate to issues of equity of access to palliative care and service development and quality improvement.
