Implicit in the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, as well as the current Aged Care reforms, is the promise of better outcomes for people with disability who are ageing. Hear about the current policy landscape and the latest research, and join us in a conversation to help shape the future for people with disability who are ageing.
Professor Trevor Parmenter will present on the topic of “Ageing Policies & Practices: Do people with lifelong disabilities fit in?” Lessons learned from research in both the general and disability ageing sectors will be examined and suggestions for cross sectorial collaboration in policy and practices will be proposed.
Paul Sadler will present on the topic of “Aged Care Reform: where to now?” Major reforms to aged care were legislated in the last days of the Labor Government. What is happening now the Abbott Coalition Government is in power? and What will the changes mean for people ageing with lifelong disabilities, other older people and their carers?
Christine Regan will present on the topic of “NDIS...in the NSW Context.”
