Telehealth: Delivering Aged Care at a Distance
The Centre for Online Health is one of the world’s most productive academic health services. In addition to an expansive research program, it operates state of the art telehealth facilities for the Royal Children's’ Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, and in a private setting.
An extensive program of research and development in geriatric medicine and aged care, is enabling services in small rural hospitals and RACFs across Queensland.

Prof Len Gray
Masonic Chair in Geriatric Medicine, Director – Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine, Director – Centre for Online Health, The University of Queensland
Professor Gray is the Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University where he directs two research centres: the Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine and the Centre for Online Health. These responsibilities reflect his research interests which are inspired by the need to offer best quality care to older people regardless of their geographical, economic or social circumstances.
Professor Gray’s focus on innovation in delivery of aged care is of specific relevance in this time of health care reform. In particular the opportunity telehealth brings to the care of older people is such that it resonates with practitioners, patients and families alike, reducing the tyranny of distance and effectively providing access to previously inaccessible resources.
