Supporting Cross Jurisdiction Collaboration to Deliver a Better Experience for patients and their families
Palliative care is an issue of growing importance for the aged care sector and recent years have seen a range of national programs funded by the Department of Health, including initiatives for education, research and knowledge translation. Internationally, a diverse range of initiatives have also been progressing; in Ireland, this has resulted in the creation of an all of country initiative which can provide important learnings for researchers, practitioners and policy makers in Australia.
In this seminar, Karen Charnley will provide an overview of the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care’s role in facilitating collaboration and cohesion across the island of Ireland, including its remit to develop research, policy and practice and education. Please join us as we:
- explore the background to the establishment of AIIHPC and the Institute’s roles in policy and practice, education and research
- gain an in-depth understanding of the Palliative Hub, the gateway to palliative care information on the island of Ireland
- discuss similarities and differences with the Australian experience and how learnings from the Institute can inform palliative care initiatives in Australia. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences as practitioners, researchers and consumers.
