Keynote speakers will include:

~ Professor Joe Ibrahim, Consulting Physician in Geriatric Medicine,
Dept Head- Health Law and Ageing Research Unit, Department of Forensic Medicine, Monash University Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine

Joseph is a Professor at Monash University this appointment followed Joseph establishing the Health Services Research Unit at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University in 1999 after completing a Doctorate of Philosophy examining the epidemiological principles of performance measurement and quality in health care. Joseph’s principal areas of research expertise include quality of clinical care, aged care, performance measurement, patient safety and climate change.

Joseph is the Clinical Director of Sub-Acute Services and a practicing consultant physician in Aged Care Medicine at a large regional centre in Victoria (2007) providing care for patients in hospital and community settings, Adjunct Professor, Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care, La Trobe University, Faculty Of Health Sciences.

~ Professor John Pollaers, Chair of the Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce

John Pollaers has a proven track record in leading major Australian and international companies including Pacific Brands and Foster’s Group, and in his current roles is working across Government to bring about major reforms to vocational education and training and aged care. This is realisation of his vision of building a strong future for Australia by creating opportunities for people and businesses to flourish and succeed. He is a passionate advocate for education and training, the care of senior Australians and including more people with disability in work and training.

John is Chair of the Australian Industry and Skills Committee, and the Australian Advanced Manufacturing Council, a member of Prime Minister’s Industry 4.0 Taskforce, and an advisory board member at Melbourne University’s Centre for Workplace Leadership. He runs his own business and sits on an international board.

The Regional Symposium aims to:

  • Stimulate: Introduce delegates to ideas they may not have previously considered
  • Instigate: Encourage delegates to build on current practices with new ideas for delivering best outcomes for people in their communities
  • Surround: Meet, collaborate, partner, exchange ideas and build networks with peers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines
