Ageing, Citizenship and Participation

To download a copy of the presentation slides, click here.

Increased longevity and population ageing are international trends that are contributing to new thinking about the participation of people in later life. It has been found that there are individual, community and economic benefits of the diverse participation by people in later life.

This forum focuses on work being done at state, regional and local levels that reflects the important considerations of the recent Inquiry into Opportunity for Participation of Victorian Seniors. This forum will provide you an opportunity to

  • Explore emerging themes of social, economic and community participation of older people
  • Challenge the political, social and individual barriers to such participation
  • Consider strategies for the creation of an “age-friendly” society
  • Understand the diversity of older people
