Residential Aged Care Reform: Welcome to the 21st Century

The Illawarra Chapter of the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) invites you to attend a special event to hear about the latest developments regarding funding reform options for residential aged care.

Presented by Prof Kathy Eagar, Director of the Australian Health Services Research Institute at the University of Wollongong, this seminar will provide you with an overview of the reforms currently being considered by the Australian Government.

The reform options have been developed to address the changing needs of the residents entering aged care, provide greater certainty regarding funding for providers, and ensure a more evidence-based and transparent allocation of funding for the sector.

Professor Eagar has recently completed a series of consultations on the reform options with the Department of Health, reaching around one thousand people nationally, and will provide feedback on the main issues raised as well as latest government thinking regarding the reforms.

Participants will:

  • Learn about the latest reforms being considered by the Australian Government
  • Understand what the proposed funding reforms will mean for you and aged care organisations
  • Develop a new way of thinking about how aged care funding relates to care services
