Claire has been involved in the discipline of gerontology for over 20 years since conducting her PhD research that investigated successful ageing in the context of cerebrovascular disease, with the Department of Medical Gerontology, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She has previously served as executive member with the Irish Gerontological Society representing psychology and ageing. She has developed gerontology curricula to include interdisciplinary perspectives and continues to promote healthy ageing research programmes.
