‘It’s been a total privilege to work for AAG in its many capacities and the role has provided rich opportunities both in Australia and internationally. As a number of key initiatives draw to a close, it’s a good time to move on. It’s time for a break and then I’ll seek my next adventure. Big thank you to the staff, the Board and the wonderful members who make AAG so special, I will miss you’, commented James.
A/Prof Marguerite Bramble, AAG President, responded with, ‘The Board thanks James for his significant contributions over what will be seven and a half years. During this time James has led the development of the AAG in its three areas of membership, policy and research, making a difference to the experience of ageing for our growing population. More recently James has focused on positioning AAG both nationally and internationally through facilitating the development of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and the 2029 IAGG World Congress bid. His passion, intelligence and energy will be missed’.
‘James led the set up and development of the AAG Research Trust, stewarding two major gifts, forging strategic partnerships and more recently facilitating the successful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led grants focus‘ added Prof Linda Rosenman, Chair of the Steering Committee of the AAG Research Trust.
The Board is now working through a recruitment process for James’s replacement.
