2029 IAGG World Congress bid launched

The Prime Ministers’ of both Australia and New Zealand have got behind our bid to bring the 2029 IAGG World Congress to Sydney, Australia, with a pre-Congress Leadership Summit in Queenstown, Aotearoa New Zealand.

Australian Association of Gerontology has launched our bid website, along with our partners the Australian & New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine (ANZSGM) and the New Zealand Association of Gerontology (NZAG), which includes personal letters of support from both Prime Ministers.

The website also includes our comprehensive bid which was submitted last year to the IAGG World Secretariat and has now distributed to the 100+ councillors from the 60+ countries across the globe, who are members of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics.  During the 2022 IAGG World Congress (12-16 June), the Council will meet to appoint the successful bid for 2029.  It is highly competitive and so it will be a terrific achievement if we can win the bid.

The website also details our global commitment to make an impact following the Congress which will be supported by $200,000 from the NSW Government, which is in addition to their generous support for the Congress.  It also details our many supporters and the journey we have been on since 2016 to develop our bid. You too can support our bid.
