Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) SIG

There is extensive work required to ensure ageing-related services, research and policy are responsive to the needs of Australia's Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) population. Information sharing and collaboration is essential by researchers, policy makers, advocates and service providers to ensure services are provided in a culturally responsive manner.

The purpose of the AAG CALD SIG is to support AAG’s overarching purpose of connecting research, policy and practice, by:

  • Sharing information about research, policy and practice initiatives in the areas of ageing and CALD
  • Identifying areas for further research and improvements to policy and practice in this area
  • Organising events to bring members together to discuss and plan emerging issues in this area
  • Engaging with consumer and other groups with a focus of supporting older people from a wide range of CALD backgrounds
