New AAG online community

In a true demonstration of ‘you said, we did’, AAG is proud (and very excited) to soon be launching a new online community. This initiative is in direct response to member feedback, with AAG receiving a clear message that our members want a way to communicate and engage with each other.

The online community will be a way for AAG members and stakeholders to connect with each other, share news and information, and support each other in our professional endeavours. Separate from any other social media giant and restricted to AAG members, all indications are that this platform will be a real value-add to your membership.

Led by Michael Tan, the development of this new platform has involved countless hours of technical work, content development and user testing. Thank you! We also gratefully acknowledge the time and input of our ‘early adopter user group’, who have participated with great enthusiasm. Thank you for your time, insights and good humour.

We can now count down to the launch of the online community and look forward to sharing it with you in the coming weeks.

Brain Bootcamp Frontiers: Call for participants

Our friends at Western Sydney University are conducting research into dementia awareness and risk reduction for rural and remote communities in Australia. The nine-month program called Brain Bootcamp Frontiers provides individual brain health scores and goal tracking plans, free brain health boxes with resources and related items, and free 20-minute telephone cognitive assessments to 200 adults aged 55 years and older. Registrations close at the end of March. Please share the information on this exciting project with your colleagues, family and friends.

Brain Bootcamp was founded by Dr Joyce Siette, AAG member and recipient of a 2022 Strategic Innovation Program grant made available by the AAG Research Trust, in partnership with Dementia Australia Research Foundation

One more thing: Spam and virus blocks

Spam and virus protection programs have been going into overdrive lately, with many AAG members unable to receive or access communications from AAG, including password reset request emails. We share your frustration! If you’re having this problem, please:

  • Ask your IT administrator to put AAG on your organisation’s ‘white list’
  • Mark AAG as a ‘safe sender’ (in Outlook, click on ‘Junk’ and select ‘Never block sender’)
  • Once the password reset emails from AAG can get through to you, log into your AAG membership account and reset your password.
