Intergenerational inequality is high on the public agenda and yet, in debates about housing, wealth and the “baby boomer” generation, the voices of older Australians experiencing housing insecurity are often lost. Ageism through prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination can compound the housing challenges many older people already face and significantly increase their risk of homelessness.

This webinar brings together three expert voices to explore the intersection of ageism and housing. Panellists will examine the systemic and attitudinal barriers that prevent older people from accessing safe, stable and appropriate housing, and share perspectives from the frontline, from advocacy, and from lived experience. Join us for a frank and timely conversation about how we can do better.

Register for this event and:

  • Understand how ageism drives poor housing outcomes for older Australians
  • Explore the gendered dimensions of housing insecurity in later life
  • Hear lived experience of navigating housing insecurity as an older person
  • Consider strategies to challenge ageist attitudes within the housing sector
  • Identify opportunities to advocate for more equitable housing policy
