Dementia Risk Reduction and Prevention: A Global Perspective

Dementia is one of the most significant public health challenges of our time. Over 57 million people are living with dementia globally and case numbers are projected to rise sharply in the next 20 years. Despite growing evidence that nearly half of dementia cases may be attributable to modifiable risk factors across the life course, translating this knowledge into effective prediction and prevention strategies remains a major challenge worldwide.

This webinar will present the current state of dementia risk reduction and prevention from a global perspective, examining both personalised and population-level approaches. Drawing on evidence from risk prediction modelling, population-based studies, and emerging frameworks for applying risk stratification in practice, the session will highlight key opportunities and challenges, including the strengths and limitations of existing models, the potential for integrating brain health into broader public health messaging, and pathways for new collaboration to advance dementia prevention research, policy, and practice

  • Understand the global burden of dementia and rising projections.
  • Evaluate personalised and population-level prevention approaches.
  • Explore frameworks for applying risk prediction in practice.
  • Consider pathways for national and international research collaboration.
