About the AAG

International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics

The AAG is a member of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG). The mission of the IAGG is to promote the highest levels of achievement of gerontological research and training worldwide, and to interact with other international, inter-governmental, and non-governmental organisations in the promotion of gerontological interests globally and on behalf of its member associations.

The IAGG has a World Congress every four years. The 2005 Congress was held in Rio de Janeiro and the 2009 Congress will be held in Paris. The IAGG collaborates regularly with the United Nations Programme on Ageing, the World Health Organization's Ageing and Life Course Programme, and other international agencies. The IAGG has a General Council as well as five Regional Councils. The AAG is part of the Asia/Oceania Region of the IAGG.
