PhD Scholarship for a Physiotherapist or Exercise Scientist

Scholarship Description
The National Ageing Research Institute and the University of Melbourne are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a PhD candidate with a physiotherapy or exercise science background. Your doctoral research would be within the Improving Mood through Physical Activity for Carers and Care recipients Trial (IMPACCT) funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council. The aim of IMPACCT is to reduce depressive symptoms in family carers. You would work as part of a dynamic team of researchers from the National Ageing Research Institute, the University of Melbourne, Monash University, the University of Sydney and Curtin University.
With guidance from the associated researchers, your role would be to design and implement the physical activity component of the project and contribute to other aspects of the study. You would also have the opportunity to undertake some coursework subjects through the School of Population Health and Department of Molecular, Environmental, Genetic and Analytic (MEGA) Epidemiology.
Availability
This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Applications will be accepted until March 30, 2012.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is $25,000 AUD (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. An additional $2,000 is available for professional development. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of three years.
