The AAG is very committed to promoting high quality research on ageing. It is particularly keen to stress the interconnections between research, education, policy development and service delivery.
The AAG promotes the conduct and dissemination of research on ageing through a number of mechanisms:
- direct research grants, such as the RM Gibson Research Fund and Divisional grant programs
- support and nurturing of postgraduate students through the Student Section
- spreading information about research funding opportunities through the National Newsletter and website
- seminars and conferences at Divisional level
- an annual National Conference
- informal mentoring of early career researchers by more experienced AAG members
- active participation in multidisciplinary research networks and supports such as Ageing Research Online
- partnership in the Australasian Journal on Ageing
